Organization of the Polar Prediction Project (PPP)

The Polar Prediction Project has been initiated following the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) Executive Council meeting (EC-64) Resolution 17 (EC-64). It is one of the key projects of the WMO's World Weather Research Programme (WWRP).

The international PPP Steering Group being responsible for the implementation of the project represents both the research and operational communities. The SG meets annually in order to review progress and ensure momentum.

International Coordination Office for Polar Prediction

The International Coordination Office for Polar Prediction (ICO) supports the Polar Prediction Project by coordinating and develop strong linkages between academia, research institutions, operational centers and other PPP-related initiatives. The ICO thus promotes interaction and communication between research and stakeholders such as users and providers of forecasting services. As well, ICO fosters education and outreach and oversees the implementation of the project.
